Now Playing: The Cowboy In Me - Tim McGraw
Topic: Narrative
It's so good to be home. I got back here Saturday night after Jefferson rained out about 4 PM. By 6, I was driving in bright sunshine west of Madison. Saturday night LC and J had a party at their place. Everyone was trashed pretty much. The party was fun except there was one little problem with doors getting oppened that shouldn't have... Since then, I've just been runnign around getting things done and chilling with friends, ans spending a lot of time with Scott. Probably too much, but since we haven't seen each other in 3 months, and will be getting busy here again soon, it's ok for now. Emerson Drive was here in Platteville last night for free. They won me over when they played Sweet Child 'O Mine, my fav song ever. Well, my fav rock song of all time. They all are really hot, too...espically the fiddle player and the guy on bass. I signed my CERES bid...I'm offically a pledge this semester. I went with all of them to the concert last night. That's about it. Things will be more infrequent on here becasue my life should be getting busy here (and already is somewhat) very soon. See ya around... P.S. Anyone missing a black bra?

Now Playing: Back Where I Come From - Kenny Chesney
Topic: People Suck.
Why, oh why, did my parents have 3 children? They could have stopped aftyer two and my life would have been so much better. My brother is currently standing outside my door, whistling, untill I promise to give him the internet at 9:30. I told him no, I have no idea when I'm going to be done. I gave him a ballpark figure of about 9:45. I got him out of my room on threat of punnishment, but now he's trying to see how long he can be an asshole. Well, he's messing with the master, so he's not gonna win... The weekend was predictably unpredictable, as I won the heat Friday night agian, got 12th in the feature, and managed to crash twice, give a lecture to the guy who cause the first crash in the pits during the second one, then make the feature...without passing a car after the restart. Jo's car was bent on both ends in the second crash. I am getting periously close to punching someone right now...my bro's still at it. I don't care if my parents yell, he has it coming.

Topic: Random Craziness
Right now I'm explaining to my extremely sheltered, innocent friend that "There's no replacement for displacement" isn't something you should be using if you don't know what it means...which he dosen't. I just want to tell him to go ask him mommy...lol Anyways, life has managed to change itself again and my plans with it. Essentially, I got told I was out of work to do on Monday, so I should try to find other options. So I loaded up and went roadtrippin'to P'ville Monday night. Went to dinner with Jason and Rosie (good friend and soon to be sister) and found out how much people's lives and plans have changed over the summer. Some I saw coming, some were, "meh," and some were downright shocking. Like Kendall having to go home for the year. Her parents bailed on their end of the college tuition, so there's no funds at all for her to go to school. She's all set to go to UW-Manitowoc for some of her business stuff this year. She's gone. The other news included breakups, CERES news, and other updates on people who have left us. Well back to Rikki's Life: Version 156.2: I have leads on two jobs for the last 2 weeks of August. I need to do radio mornings next week, so I can't go into Generac like my boss offered. So, as of August 15th (after the family reunion and...oh shit, points show at C-track...damn, forgot that)I could either possibly be going to the meat market for two weeks, or taking over Kendall's job at the Pioneer Crossing..but I'm third in line for that one. Regardless, I start my wonderful life as a food service worker on August 29th, if I voulenteer, or the 30th. Oh, and if it rains out, I'm am so there on the 28th. Actually, I'm kicking around the idea of leaving the track right after my last race, coming home, getting my already loaded truck and driving to Platteville. But we'll see. Really wanna get back and attened a certian someone's party....only 25 days away...

Insurance and Rain Can Kiss My Ass
Mood:

Now Playing: Old Days New - Aaron Lines
Topic: People Suck.
The insurance industry can kiss my ass. So I went to the eye doctor today becasue I haven't been there in, oh , 3 years, and my appointment gets interrupted about 3 minutes into it because appearantly, I'm not covered under my family's insurance anymore. Turns out, I was suposta get notice by mail abotu 9 months ago that I needed to provide proof of my college full-time student status. Needless to say, I didn't get it. So I can't finish my appointment or otherwise, I'd need to pay for it. Then I get the runaround and now my dad needs to go bitch at his HR peopel to fix it. I hate this shit. (Oh, I also go told to change eye doctors.) Oterwise, it was a nice day. Radio was cool except for the coughing fit I had during sports one hour. I had to cut it short. Staffright was cool becasue I had work to do, and I got to meed my replacement. She seems awesome. Oh, yesterday was bizzare. I went to a job interview that Staff Right set me up for. It was a one week temp job, full time, so I could get some money for school, becasue I haven't been getting hours. So I go, pretty much get guarenteed the job, and then they call back and say they don't need anyone. it was strange. Since it was to be covering for their receptionist who's out on vacation, I think they banded together to get it covered between themselves. The racecar looks awesome. I did the body work on it this week it soreley needed, and it looks almost like brand new at a distance. Jeff is also bringing me braces for the body tomorrow, so hopefully they wont bend as easily as my previous ones. Oh, Jeff sold his LM too. He wants to get a mid am (My car on steriods, basically) so he can join the touring series, and they have more consistent rules. That's all I got. Now, my days would be complete if I could figure out where the hell LC has been the past few days...I know he's working long hours, but I haven't seen him on here since Monday. I hope your still alive if you're reading this. See ya later P.S...Looks like rain again tomorrow. I might get another night off.

Today we had an interviewing event at the Watertown library. This extravangaza was attened by a total of 1 person. So I read stuff, and watched a cowoker hit on Kendall by phone. At least I got hours today, instead of the 3 I had yesterday... Rent the Ron White DVD. It is hillarious. It adds on the BCCT act and makes it so much funnier. Anyways, that's all I got. Now Playing: I Want You To Want Me - Dwight Yoakam
Topic: Narrative
It's been awhile... It's been interesting around here the past few days. My life is never the same, and somedays I'm thankful for it. Somedays I'm not. Wednesday is a big blank in my memory. It was pretty normal I think. But who remembers? Thursday was just fun. I had radio in the morning, and was talked into going to the Jefferson Country Fair on air. So, I had to go. Turns out that was pretty easy to schedule...I went into Staff Right, and they had no work for me really. So I left by 11, called Natasha, and we went to the fair. It was small, but nice spending the afternoon there. WE then took JO's car to the track, and did all we could to it to make it faster, including putting Kyle in it. Well, that slowed it down, but we found out that's all the car has. Friday was radio, and a long day at Staff Right. I was getting ready to leave the office about 4:15 when the races rained out. Well, Jeff was racing at Geneva, and it wasn't raining there...so we went. He ended up winning the feature by 1/2 a carlength, I ended up scoring, and I still got a full night's sleep. Saturday was the most interesting of all. The car was fast, but the track tightened up for qualifying and I was slower I wanted. Jo won the heat, I got 3rd, and I tlkaed to a lot of cool people between the heat and the consi. The consi was, well, interesting. I ended up getting in a mid-race altrication with a guy, and the resulting post race acitivity ended up with me getting rear-ended in the cross over stripe, which resulted with me sitting on my dor , almost ready to go after the sob. I went into the pits, went to retrieve my crew guy and had to talk with the sob. It was all cool, but I got the crew guy pissed. Sorry. Oh, then I get called ot the tower. I thoguht I might be in trouble fo rmy mid-track dispay of anger, but I ended up working, scoring the feature and at the payout line. (BTW, the sob was first in my line.) I cam home and read the end of my book. Today I didn't go to church (I had more left in teh book than previously thought) and worked on cars prior to a Wal-Mart run. I watched some TV, fought with my bro over the interenet (he leaves bruises now) and I'm now here. Kendall and I are discussing a weekend getaway, any ideas, leave a message!

Now Playing: Holy Water - Big & Rich ( I love this song!)
Today was a pretty decent day. Nothing too much out of the ordinary happened. I went to work, went to the doctor (fun, fun) and came home and read a good book by John Grisham (Bleachers), who I think copied the Varsity Blues script and made a few changes. Talked to LC, then my friend Phil called, who is having issues in his life right now. I'm watching the All-Star game right now listening to music and typing this...little watching of the game is being done. I'd much rather wake up to them playing on Sports Center while I'm still half-drunk and half-asleep...right Scott? lol.

For getting up at 4:30 on a Monday morning, I had a suprisingly fun day. The radio show was great this morning. Me and Tim were both fill ins for the morning show today, and I talk with him better than Reggie. It was fun, and I was relaxed on air for the first time in a long time.
Staff Right was cool, too. I actually had soem work today, and I got to meet the main sales guy from Milwaukee. I think he found me amusing. Why does everyone find me amusing?
Anyways, I went to the dentist and came home to see a candy apple red Dodge Ram sitting in the driveway. Seems mom got a better birthday present than previously thought. It's a 2000 with the sport package, Quad cab, power everything, and the 5.9. Auto trans too. It's soo much nicer than Dad's...

Now Playing: Standing Outside The Fire - Garth (a.k.a. God)
Topic: Narrative
Jeez, It's been a fun weekend. Thursday was a nice day at work. My boss pretty much threw me out when Joe showed up (he had some more paperwork to do so he got paid for the parade) and told me to go have some fun. I obeyed. Pitting for Jeff was fun. It's cool to get to play with all his high tech stuff, and work in an enviroment where you are told why you are doing something. Jeff won his qualifer race, so he was in the big show. Joe and I loaded up a few things to go into the infield for the race, becasue of some miscommunication on the race format, but it was worth it. We were flying around there helping everyone who came in. We pushed one guy clear down pit road, so the tow truck people would notice during an extended caution and take him back to his spot so he could fix it. It was kinda sad to, becasue the guy wo was leading points at Jefferson was hurt on that accident and ended up breakign his wrist something horrible, as in he gets surgery and some plates put in it tomorrow. He came in, the car was duct taped up, and he went back out for a lap before coming back in with "bad brakes." Later I saw him by the ambulence with ice on it. Jeff ended up finishing 7th. We didn't get back to Fort untill 2, and Joe was dead tired, so I slept at his house. Friday was bad at the track. It was nice Jeff and Chris showed up to help, but not cool in that the car was looser than hell, and I was in 2 incidents in the feature, one of my own fault, and bent a tie rod. Saturday morning was spent fixing everythign and changing gears (I was turning wayyy to many RPS on Friday already) nad I had enoguh time to shower and get to the track on time. The car was awesome all night, as I was fast enough to time into the 2nd heat, which I finished 4th in, and I finished 5th in the last chance race, one spot out of the feature. Dad was 5th in time, and won the dash, which made him happy. Bobbi and Zeke are home. Zeke got a mullet, Bobbi found the best store ever (racign themed lingere) and I now have to fight over the internet again! So I need to get off the computer now, and go make some very important phone calls.

Summerfest sings along with McGraw By DAVE TIANEN dtianen@journalsentinel.com Posted: July 4, 2004 It was, among other things, an exceptional Summerfest for special guests. LeAnn Rimes showed up to sing with Kid Rock, and then the Kid performed a similar favor showing up at Buddy Guy's set. And Mr. Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey, turned up to introduce Something Corporate. It wasn't exactly a total shocker, but Tim McGraw had a rather high-profile guest of his own Sunday night at the Marcus Amphitheater. Near the end of his set, Tim introduced a new song called "Blank Sheet of Paper" that he'd learned through his buddies, the Warren Brothers. Joining him were Brad and Brett Warren, and a lovely blond lady he later introduced as Mrs. McGraw. Having Faith Hill and the Warrens join him on stage was entirely appropriate, since most of the night resembled one big group hug between McGraw and 23,000 adoring fans. This was the kind of crowd that stood and sang along not just on the choruses but sometimes on whole songs. McGraw spent his whole first song slapping hands in the front row and later invited a couple dozen fans up on stage for a singalong. Of course, a resume of more than 16 No. 1 songs tends to build a bond for a performer. But there was more than familiar tunes such as "Don't Take the Girl," "Where the Green Grass Grows," "She's My Kind of Rain" and "Just to See You Smile" at work here. McGraw seems to have forged a sense of community that goes well beyond chart longevity and his obvious assets as country pin-up fodder. In the middle of his set he introduced another new song, "My Old Friend," and dedicated it to a buddy who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the U.S. Army special forces. As he performed the song, pictures that his friend had taken were flashed on the projection screens. They were pictures of villagers with broken teeth, desolate landscapes, shell-torn towns, confiscated weapons and GIs both under fire and carousing off duty. It was passage that put a human face on our troops in Iraq. Capping it off, McGraw brought his friend on stage and had him sing along on "Don't Take the Girl." It was a moment that was entertaining, illuminating and an altogether perfect way to acknowledge the holiday. Opening were both the Warren Brothers and Big & Rich. The Warren Brothers are the kind of country act that once toured with Quiet Riot, and they appear to owe far more to Led Zeppelin than Hank Williams. They also are way louder than anybody else in country. Big & Rich are rock 'n' roll boys themselves, but party tunes such as "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" also carry a connection to such grizzled party animals of the past as Jerry Jeff Walker.

Now Playing: Drift Away - Uncle Kracker
Topic: Narrative
Wow, where to begin...got a lot of catching up to do... Friday I worked some, at the radio station and at Staff Right too. All I remember about that morning is Summerfest tickets and whishing that I wouldn't get hangovers, like the good ol' days (jeez, was that only 9 months ago?) I came home and left for the track, and during the first hotlap session the car was missing. Turns out we broke a stud on the rocker arm, and the pushrod went through the rocker on the other valve on the cylinder. So we ran to JRC, my motor builder, and he helped us fix it up. I got it done in time for qualifying, which I totally sucked very much badly at. The heat race was pretty much the same way...I started outside the front row, and at C-track, that is not the place to be. I managed not to finish last at the line. The feature was good. I was doing great until the same damn thing happend with the motor as before...except it was the cylinder next to it. This was lap 20 or so, and I was actually passing cars. I was on my way to the infield when the asshole who had been beating on my bumper for the past 3 laps instead of trying to pas sme on the outside finally succeded in taking me out. I guess he got the black flag, but I was to pissy stewing about the motor. Between getting up at 4:30, the hangover, the shitty luck I was having, and other assorted maladies, I was pretty much ready to kill someting, or cry hysterically, or both. When I was almost in tears because some asshole behind me had his brights on on the way home, I decided to go to Columbus and spend the night. It was a good choice. Saturday morning was spent running around looking for parts for the car. We finally go thte car fixed about 11:30, so I had enough time to come home, shower, and go to the track. We had to get there ungodly early becasue of the kids rides, fireworks, and bigwheel races (which I have to be trophy queen for when they eventually get run) even thogh we all knew they were goign to get rained out. And boy, did they ever. We saw it coming and got everything put away before it hit. But, I had to go get the helmet, gloves and seatcover out of my car, becasue I didn't trust the tarp. Well, I got under the tarp for my car when the storm hit. I was soaked to the bone in less than 10 seconds. Good thing I wore the swimsuit top under my racesuit... I came home and watched the race, well, at least the first 50 laps untill I fell asleep. Sunday was the best day of the weekend. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was the best in my life, but it was pretty damn close. The day started out in the Watertown parade for Staff Right, which I made $25 bucks for and got to ride in a stretch limo back to our starting place to boot. I came home and watched one of the best races I've ever seen on TV. 2 Indy cars raced side by side-teammates no less- for 15 laps, with the win being decided by 0.0031 of a second...like literally 2 inches. The computer picked up the guy on the outside first - who finished second - just becasue he was that much closer to the transponder. Then the rest was kinda downhill. I just got to see Scott, Big and Rich and Tim Mc Graw, that's all....(I am SOOOO J/K here!)Yeah, LC showed up and brought me booze and a shot glass...which is pretty thoughtful. (And I'm NOT going to drink the bottle either)He liked his gift too, which made me happy. We even managed to find a way for him to get it back to Alabama, which was even better. So after a nice drive in his kickass rental car - a 2004 Grand Am with the V6 (the mother hauls some serious ass) listening to Big and Rich and watching cocky momma's boys in Firebirds getting busted by speedtraps, we made it. We parked a literally a whole hour away from the concert hall. It was a nice walk though, by the lake and all. Tickets were horrendously priced. It turns out that we ended up paying $40 a piece for decent grandstand seats (THANK YOU SCOTT...you're the best!) but they were so worth it. I could tell you all abotu hte concert, but someone else did for me, and my fingers are tired. (See next entry) Suffice it to say, those boys know how to put on a show. So, the show got over at 11, we walked nonstop to the car, getting there at midnight, and we took the scenic way out of town, going downtown past MSOE and Water Street, singing along to to Pat McCurdy. Never did manage to get much sleep, and LC had to leave by 8 :( Did I mention I already miss him? Grandpa came shortly afrt Scott left and loaded up Bobbi's Regal form Jimmy that magically appeared in our front yard Saturday (now that was a funny voicemil from Mom.) So I go back in the house and decide to take a short nap...and wake up about 2. Oops. I did nothing but go to town and rent some old Burt Renyolds movies (Smokey & the Bandit II & III and Stroker Ace)and get food. See, I figured it out. Mom and Dad left me enough cash so if I eat cheap, I never need to cook. That was so thoughtful of them. Mom also left a 6 pack of Mike's in the fridge, which is fair game becasue she forgot it when she went camping. (Hence the title of this long winded entry...they put random words on the bottom of the caps) I have "THE" and "PATH" so far. (yes, I am bored.) Today was a long ass day. Radio station stuff, and I finally got out of Staff Right at 5:15. Thigs did not go well there today, with major crises at every turn it seemed. But I got Thursday afternoon off to go to Dells with Jeff and Natasha (who have set the date of their wedding for May 28, 2005...found out today) and I think Joe might tag along too. It should be a good time. I worked on Mom's present today too. Almost got the pictures all figured out, just need to get them hung tomorrow night. And now I've spent the past half hour typing this. So to summarize: racing sucked Friday, Saturday rained out, Sunday I finally got to see Scott (Yay!) and some other unimportant people...I can't rememebr anymore (lol), yewsterday I was dead to the world, and today I worked too much and am just chillin' now with just 1 Mike's. Wow, bet you're whishing you just read the last paragraph now. LOL...catch ya later.

Now Playing: If That Ain't Country - Anthony Smith
I'm drunk. Yes, I will admit it. But it was better than..hell, I don't remeber why I am drinking. Wait! Dad was near the racecar...that means he was all pissy. Yup, that was why. Today was busy at work. I worked pretty much nonstop for 8 till 4. The guys from Generac came and took down signs for us from the old location, which we moved from over a year ago. I also got the tour, and it was pretty bad. The walls were peeling, and the old style register leaked water like a sive. I did lots all day, and got good pizza for lunch. I came home, worked on the car, started drinking...oh, finished a certain someone's present and got it wrapped, drank some more while cookign supper, went and got a neighbor dog and called its owner, and cleaned my room and drank some more. Oh, note to self: Segram's whiskey can be drunk straight. That's some good shit, which is why I am so hammered, I mixed it pretty strong (as in there is like no Pepsi in it.) Well, I need to work at the station tomorrow, it's bedtime. Night Night.

Ok, random thought here: Why do they call Wednesday Hump Day? Seriously, I don't seen anyone getting any or in the mood to do so... Anyways, today was a news reading day again. I didn't suck this morning, which was good. Staff Right was not too busy, though. I've spent the betetr part of two days tying cards on pens for that parade on Sunday. I had some other random jobs, but I was done by 2:30, even with a hour lunch. No work this week...not too cool. I came home and Grandpa was here changing flywheels and oil. I then cleaned all the random fluids off the chassis, and got kicked out of the house becasue degreaser spray is smelly. Then I spent a hour working on a super secret project untill the equipment broke (well, after a shower.) Taht's about all the excitement in my life. I just can't wait untill Sunday! It's only 4 days away....
